Silver Accessories // Bainser Menswear Styl;e Blog

Just caught sight of this shot on the Fashionisto blog, I’ll be honest I’m no huge fan of the entire look. The sandals may have looked good on a runway but in a gothic graveyard teamed with black socks, they don’t work. Socks and sandals? Really? Are you actually having a laugh?

But as my fashion tutor always said when doing research never ever look at the whole image. Sure you may like the look, but figure out the details that make it work, tear up the image leaving only them and use that to inspire you. It’s stop you regurgitating the same stuff as everyone else because when you join the dots of the tiny pieces that inspire you you’ll have made something new.

So thanks to Fashionisto, and Soon, I’ve been inspired by the silver ring/cuff combo by Guiseppe Zanotti, blanked out the sandals/sock fiasco and feel enriched. Its a little Seven of Nine, but not so underneath it all I am still a bit of a geek. I like. In fact I really really like. Not idea how I’d actually look wearing it but lets not get in the way of its beauty.

So I’ve rabbited on recently about a return to the subtle, to the days of the a small black triangle, two small interlocked C’s and not much else. Harping on about how it’s better to have an understated glamour. The discrete signs to those in the know.
And then there’s this. As subtle as the dying breath of a celebrities career on ITV primetime.
Thing is this actually goes along with everything I’ve been saying. No it’s not subtle, no it’s not understated, but it’s the exception that breaks the rule. To lug this beauty round the streets you need to be sure of yourself. Oh and probably have an eye in the back of your head to make sure someone doesn’t liberate it from your possession.
This bag also looks like the perfect size for a weekend jaunt or city break. In fact its brilliantly sized for a trip to the gym, but I wouldn’t recommend unless you happen to get sweaty in The Third Space.
Subtle is great, but sometimes you just need to smack someone in the mouth and let them know you’re right. Metaphorically of course. I’m a lover not a fighter after all.

I want these glasses! I rocked the whole geek chic faux raybans all summer, and as the nights draw in sunglasses are becoming superfluous.
Thing is I’m fully sighted, In fact almost perfectly, though not as observant as I should be. This means I’ll have to let this one slide as I dont really buy into the whole wearing glasses just for the sake of it. (Please feel free to pick me up on this should you see me out and rocking some sexy specs) But for now I’ll leave that up to those of us who need glasses, and seeth slightly I can’t look that cool.
Oh and I was soo looking at just the glasses. Honest.
Ok, ok, I also want that plastic cuff too. I saw something like that at the Emporio Armani Press day, but I’ll be covering that over at Amelia’s Magazine

A refreshing alternative to a buttonhole, and the crafty amongst us could easily knock one up. But I’m no Gok so I won’t be flourishing one up as I type this. Seriously just buy one. It’ll save you time, energy and probably money.
Mens accessories are not just wedding bands, watches and cufflinks. These may be our staples but look outside the box. Oh and step away from a rosary, wooden plastic or otherwise, unless you are a) deeply religious or b) in the group section of X Factor with other boyband hopefuls. Honestly like All Saints (band not shop) the moments gone for this accessory.

This gentleman’s brooch is a great accessory to a simple jacket.

Three times a lady.
I told you I’d keep an eye out for the final confirmation. So when I began flicking through this months GQ I was more than pleasantly surprised to see this little number on literally the 6th page.
Advert for Ralph, advert for Prada, then this little advert for Emporio Armani. Now what’s that round his waist. Yep! Its a neon belt.
Ok so it’s not so bright as the other two I’ve shown you but its definitely neon and a belt. Just by turning it down a little you can bring this trend into winter. Alternatively grab some other accessory in neon, like maybe a pocket square.
Thanks to Armani themselves for the shot…I couldnt have put it better myself High-res

So I’ve been harping on a bit of late on belts. Why you may ask? Well for a start they’re generally at the more accessible end of the high fashion market. More than that though they can totally change a look, lifting it from the bored and stayed to the truly interesting.
This belt looks so good. The wallet if I’m honest is bit too crafty for my taste but lets not hold that against it.
Being high quality leather this belt will age in a unique way depending on each wearer and their life. The build up of creases and patina on the leather will only add to it’s character.
If you see one of these out and about please let me know where…and I’ll do the same

A look at the new belt. A detail post + fit pick will be up on Young Man/Old Man tomorrow or Thursday. Also check the progress of my wallet.

Once, Twice…..Three times as Trend
Just a quick one, I posted a blog about the neon belt being a good way to get into a trend without going over the top.
While flicking through Tommy Ton’s photo coverage of the Menswear fashion shows last month I stumbled across this photo. In fashion its often said that 3 times is a trend…
Here’s to finding that third photo ;0) High-res
