Emporio Armani // Campaign // Spring Summer 2012

I’m really liking the new campaign for Spring Summer from Emporio Armani shot by Alasdair McLellan. On location in Hong Kong and under the creative direction of Mr Armani himself Florian Van Bael looks great here.

I also really want these trousers! How cool are they? I’m definitely feeling a rat pack 50s surfer vibe this summer. Get me some vintage Hawaiian Shirts and some triple pleated lightweight trousers now please!

Emporio Armani // Fashion Night Out // Diamonds Black Carat

Everyone loves a good party, and as the summer draws to a close the fashion folk need a little something to warm them up ready for London Fashion Week. Vogue’s Fashion Night Out is just that. From the 19th we’ll all be chasing our tails trying to cram in as many shows and of course parties but first lets have taster of what will actually be in store this Autumn Winter.

My plan had been to meet my good friend NP for beverages and the opportunity to win a bag at McQueen. Unfortunately my new haircut took longer than expected and as such I was delayed. NP, however checked out the loveliness at McQueen & Dior. By loveliness I of course mean the cocktails as well as the clothes. It would after all be rude not to.

When we did finally rendezvous outside Armani, with some profuse apologising from myself, the party was already going strong. Circo vodka cocktails were grabbed and after a quick peruse of the Winter collection we made our way to the VIP balcony in the Summer Garden. The menswear is fantastic, and I particularly loved the charcoal layered winter coat. The cut was impeccable. Did I remember to photograph it? No of course I didn’t, the downside of using these parties to catch up with friends is in the midst of updating each other photos can fall down the list of priorities. However here it is on style.com in a paler grey.

It’s has a fantastic handle and drape and to be honest I’m more than a little bit in love.

Up on the balcony the Ciroc Vodka was replaced with a healthy dose of Pommery, I wasn’t about to complain. While out in the garden itself we were entertained by Emelie Sandé, Baxter, and The Good Natured. I was told by a good friend that when Armani acquired the store Mr Armani himself insisted there was to be a garden. I for one am delighted he did. The venue is brilliant and gave an added bonus to the party. Dancing amongst the trendy and lovely of London were a couple of recognisable faces, Matthew Williamson, Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans) and Ruth Genintas (Tudors). I’m told the younger cast members of Downton Abbey also dropped by, but I to my shame I missed them.

Every so often I thought I really needed to head out front and see what else others were offering, but then another champagne or great track played and I was persuaded to stay. I mentioned in the last post Emporio Armani would be launching their new fragrance Diamonds Black Carat at the party. There’s something about Armani fragrances in that they almost always seem to work on my skin. Diamonds Black Carat is no exception. Available exclusively in Emporio Armani stores for the next two weeks and then nationwide I will have to nip in and pick some up. It’s beautiful!

I’ve always thought of Emporio as the cheeky and naughtier younger brother of the Armani family. The one that gets away with blue murder, thanks to its good looks and wit. Good looks, wit and the desire to misbehave normally means a great party. This was without a doubt no exception.

Vogue Fashion’s Night Out // Emporio Armani // Party

Vogue’s Fashion Night Out is going from strength to strength and with more parties and events every season I was looking forward to bounding around the West End checking out all the fun. However then the above beauty landed in my in box, and these landed on my door mat. Who am I to say no to such a lovely invite?

Check out what arrived just in time for #FNO tomorrow. Goodtimes

So having summoned a partner in crime I shall be off to Bond St this eve and hopefully the credit card won’t receive too much a hammering!!

Tonight is also the launch of Emporio Diamonds Black Carat for men fragrance, it’ll be available nationwide in two weeks but I’m really looking forward to grabbing a bottle after reading the review on Grooming Guru. Armani fragrances normally hit the mark perfectly for me, so here’s hoping they have plenty!

The only downside is it’s straight after work which meant much consternation deciding what to wear this morning. I’m pleased with the look, Royal Blue Patent shoes by Kurt Geiger, Black Skinny Jeans from French Connection, Dress Shirt by Paul Costelloe & my grandfathers vintage dinner jacket. I am somewhat overdressed for a day in the office. But then it’s always better to be over dressed than under, and I’ll just have to style it out.

If you can make it, hope to see you out and about around London this eve!!

Emporio Armani SS11

Leather, chains and skin tight rubber, is not what one expects for Armani, but Emporio has always been the naughty playful younger brother of Collezioni & Prive.

In the decadent mega-luxe Italian family that is Armani, Prive is the oldest sister, slightly crazy exceptionally wealthy and busy looking fabulous running an art gallery for fun. Collezione is the elder brother, successful business man probably a hedge fund manager but if you ask politely no one is entirely certain what he does. Emporio, is the bright young thing. Surfing, snowboarding, living wild and free whilst bringing home partners mummy would almost definitely disapprove of.

In that way the collection works well. Looking out to the young and the reckless, these are looks for playboys. The Trussardi gent has a Riva,

Emporio has a jet ski & can flip it like no one else!

So next summer if you’re looking for someone with a lots of luxe and a bit more than a cheeky smile. This’ll do nicely. But lets gloss over the slightly Tom of Finland-esque finale….

Ok I’ll admit it, my brain is fried!! As well as getting the last hwoever many posts up this afternoon, I’ve also been super busy at work and v productive too I may add. But now I’ve discovered a friend of mine has passed her Phd so I’m off to the pub to celebrate. I dont feel I’m doing Senor Armani a disservice here as quite clearly the clothes can speak for themselves. They are clever, beautiful, young, trend driven. Everything you’d wish from the line.

Tomorrow as they say is another day and I stiil have McQueen et al to review, and Paris starts tomorrow. Most of which I’ll get round to over the weekend.
