What no menswear reviews?

What with both Milan and Paris menswear weeks now a distant memory in fashion terms (3 weeks ago), some of you may well be wondering why no reviews? I mean after all this is a menswear blog isn’t it?

Well they shall be coming soon enough. Work has been a bit hectic of late, and this season I’m going to spread the reviews out over a longer period. I may have immersed myself in the utter madness of fashion month but you need not. That and New York Fashion week has only just finished and London doesnt start until Friday. Just sit back relax and let me cherry pick the most amazing collections over the next few weeks and months. Just in time for them to hit the store, and you to max out the credit credit cards.

In the meantime I’ll leave you with this little gem from Gant by Michael Bastian just off the runway in New York

I’d love to pretend I’m above the preppy rugby boy look I sported in my youth. But I’m not, the dubarrys, dockers and rugger shorts of my mid teens will follow me forever.
Thankfully they’ve been restyled by Michael Bastian for Gant and are now eminently cooler. No longer shall it be a point of Heino in the Burlo, before heading to Slapperface Jacks for me. (Bizarre South County Dublin reference - if you didnt get it, don’t worry. If you did Ross O’Caroll Kelly is looking for you)
But back to the clothes! Whats not to love? Pop your collar and rock the Ivy League look, just dont go shaving your legs as the model on the left appears to have done.

GQ April 2010

Is it soo wrong that when I flick open a magazine its quite often the adverts that captivate me? Fair enough the articles are good, but the a great ad campaign can draw me in and inspire me far more than any in depth interview with Gemma Arterton ever will. Maybe there’s something in that……

Anyway here are a couple of my favourites from this edition.

So firstly we have Nicole Farhi.

The collection as a whole is clean and crisp as you’d expect but I really like this cardigan. It looks like the ideal summer knit, in my head I’ve already replaced the white backdrop of the shoot with a yacht, summer breeze, Collete with G&T and a jug of pimms.

Next up Gant…

Seriously I wouldn’t have thought so either but look at this jacket, its as cool as all hell, and when I’m done being all European on my yacht with Nicole, I’m going throw this on and head up to the clubhouse. (I also now need to convince the technicians that putting under collar melton as an inlay is a good thing - that being the sky blue stuff under the collar, that’s also on his cuff)

Seriously though, it must be the weak heat of the sun through my window this morning as am also loving this Tommy advert

Who needs a wetsuit when you’re already in the Bahamas and in a rush to get to the beachside cocktail bar. I’ll just waterski across laughing at how utterly fabulous I am, while the barman prepares my well earned Mojito.

Back at home though we have the launch of the new Burberry diffusion line Brit. Bring it on as I may actually be able to afford some of this!  Rubbish iPhone camera does not do this jacket justice or indeed the moody rich anglo teenage angst of the model. But hey you cant have everything! He may have gotten the coat and the shoot but mummy & daddy prob didn’t buy him a pony at some point…grrr angst grrr! (Yes I am slightly jealous)
