There are many ways to run a giveaway. Some are bad, some are good, some are so convuluted that no matter how much you want to win you can stomach, tweeting, following, commenting, posting a witty video and then somehow encourage 37 of your best mates to do the same.
Start are thankfully not like that.
The giveaway is ridiculously simple! Donate some cash to a great charity (Jeans for Genes) and….nope that’s just it. I would recommend leaving a way for them to get in contact with you though.
And in return for your good deed what could you win? A pair of Acne or Nudie jeans.
It doesnt matter if you’re a boy or a girl they have a boys and girls pair to give away in each brand. There’s no minimum donation, but dont be too stingy people it’s for a great charity and is a great comp. Just make sure enter before the 16th October.
Actually don’t! DO NOT ENTER THIS COMPETITION!! I want those jeans!*
*yes it’s selfish but I don’t care I want those jeans! Oh fine donate away, and good luck.
Pitti has been done and dusted, and once I’ve trawled through the countless blogs and street shots I’ll distill some key trends from the fashionistos present. Camo cargo pants and a navy jacket made a reappearance this season as well as a lot of bold colour blocking. But hot on Pitti’s heels come the menswear shows in Milan. I loved some shows, was a bit meh at others and was thoroughly disappointed with one in particular.
So what can you expect from Milan? Well Versace and Cavalli will be bold eurotrash, Armani will be classic and stylish whilst the D Squared boys will show a barely disguised 30 minutes of homoerotic lust. Not bad for a few days work really.
Shorts

Being Spring Summer Shorts were in abundance. From D&G’s silk/denim hybrids to Bally’s tailored short shorts, (Top Center Right & Left respectively), there was plenty to choose from. Missoni (Far right) & D Squared (Center bottom left) both showed luxe sheen fabrics, with Vivienne Westwood (Far left) and Marni (Center bottom right) showing a more clean crisp white look.
Personally am loving the fact the length of mens shorts is remaining mid thigh. Sure it means a bit more time needs to be spent in the gym but there is nothing wrong with seeing plenty of leg in the summertime.
Knits

Lightweight summer knits are brilliant especially considering the slightly erratic nature of the British weather at the moment. I mean c’mon its nearly the end of June, and those whinging of a drought have long since drowned under the torrents. My faves? The Gucci v-neck (bottom row right), McQueen stripe (far right large image), Pringle’s new fractured argyle (top row left). Armani (top centre), Band of Outsiders (top right), and Iceberg (bottom left) are all great, with Moschino’s summer cardigan really surprising me. In general I’m neither a fan of theirs or short sleeves on anything bar Tshirts. But this really works!
Formalwear

Oh baby yeah, from the structured to the more relaxed, insane prints, and that great cropped double breasted jacket from Z Zegna (middle). I love it all. In fact I even loved a bit of Cavalli (top left), which I almost never do! The Moschino print (top left) is crazy brilliant. You’ll only be able to wear this look once or twice but you will be the centre of the party when you do. Westwood (bottom left) triumphed with some great British tailoring and several brilliantly cut suits. Iceberg’s unstructured jackets (centre right, bottom left) brought a needed lightness to tailoring, whilst Etro’s (centre right) black on black detailing was brilliantly subtle.
Outerwear

Having endured weather that would make Noah wince over the last few weeks the need for a lightweight summer jacket has never been more obvious. Thank you Costume National (centre) for this gorgeous lightweight and soft trench. Armani (top & bottom right) really brought newness to the biker jacket and had great surface detailing. Whilst John Varvatos took my breath away with his lengthening almost buttery soft jackets (Centre right, bottom left). They looked warm and breathable, perfect for a summers evening. Bally’s leather hoodie (centre right) is something I’ve been coveting for a long time, I just didn’t know it yet. And as for Neil Barrett’s two tone cropped trench, well I’ve already yabbered on about it in another post.
Of course a round up of the Milan shows wouldnt be complete without a gratuitous Gandy shot. A legend now immortalised in a Dolce & Gabanna book the man is fantastic!

Just seen these over at Definitive Touch from the brand Naked & Famous and I’m in love. I know finally a bit of proper menswear on the blog. It’s been a while coming but these jeans are definitely worth it. Perfect for the summer the jeans are a great men’s fit and fade from white to blue.
Stateside it’s apparently wrong to wear white after Labor Day. Thankfully over here we a) know how to spell labour and b) know better than to follow such blanket style rules. I say this knowing full well I issue menswear decrees here all the time. But rules are there to be broken. But with these denim marvels you quickly side step this thorny issue. By the time the summer has gone and the nights have grown darker, so will your jeans.
Obviously they won’t morph into a pair of dark indigo jeans, but I love the concept. Naked and Famous are a Canadian brand and whilst the reverse fade jean is currently exclusive to Barney’s however let’s hope this isn’t a global exclusive and those of us on this side of the Atlantic can get a piece of the action.
Failing that check out Kiosk 78 & Far Fetch to get some Naked & Famous loving in the meantime.
Everyone needs a good denim brand to fall back on. Few pieces can make you feel as good as slipping on your favourite pair of jeans. You know the ones that make your arse look amazing.
What??
Come on don’t pretend that isn’t one of the main criteria when buying jeans.
Anyway with a London eye, and training in the home of cutting edge denim Japan, Snake & Dagger could well be just that brand for you.

With 3 fits, Rock Viper (Skinny), Five Pacer (Slim Straight Leg) and Blue Krait (Regular Tapered), there is going to something for everyone. The washes are fantastic and differ hugely from jean to jean. From grey reflective paint, to grease, to honeycombing, indigos and more. Anything from your most beaten in look to something clean and fresh.

This summer they are introducing jean shorts and chinos to the range. I firmly believe they will go from strength to strength having only launched in the past few seasons so now is the time to hunt them down. Before everyone else does.
These lux raw jeans only develop more with age, and the lads behind the brand recommend you dont wash them for the first 6 months of wear. To avoid becoming stinky its recommend you freeze them then air them regularly. The freezing kills off the stench making bacteria.
Its also recommended you wear your jeans as much as is humanly possible! The more you wear them the more individual they will become.
Another impressive note to the jeans is the seaming. Now this may come across as a little techy but if you turn the jeans inside out you’ll find another pair of jeans. Whether piped edges or double felled, the seams all have a clean finish.

In addition to the great jeans I also love the victoriana print t-shirts. Great fit and style.
As for how good they’ll make your arse….well I cant comment yet not having had the luxury of slipping a pair on. But if the models in the lookbook are anything to go by, you’ll look great.

Time and again you’ll hear or is it read, who cares, me harp on about how it’s the finer details in Menswear that make the difference.
These two jeans really sum up that idea. Whats not to love about a bit of cheeky hidden gingham or combat print. On the outside you’re just another guy in the street, but really you’re a soldier!
Bring it on!
