More from the shoot...
London Fashion Week started with a bang this week, I’ve seen so many exciting looks and innovations already and there is still 3 days to go. But for many of us wandering round Somerset House this week LFW really began on the Thursday night. Swedish brand Bjorn Borg hosted an immense party in the Battersea Power Station to celebrate the launch of their new glow in the dark underwear range.
Underwear parties mean one thing really, semi-naked models, and we wee not disappointed on that score at all. We were also treated to a huge themed space bring a Scandi winter wonderland to south west London. Hot tubs, meat balls, Absolut vodka, and a ‘sauna’ were all to be found in the party. Once the party was in full swing we were treated to a fashion show of the entire new range. I have to say I was impressed, and without going in to my own underwear buying habits too much I will be looking at these with greater interest.
Underwear brand Bjorn Borg takes over Battersea Power Station and they’d like me to attend their party. Then they send me this video. I can not wait! Massive fan of 4D Projections anyway, and this will apparently also have hot tubs, a snow covered forest, glow in the dark underwear and a massive 50m projection on the Thames.
The whole event will be live streamed on MTV and here whilst presented by the very lovely Alexis Knox.
I will of course be sure to report back all the juicy details and excitement.

Having loved the show in the afternoon, I headed out into Milano for a bit of a wander. If I can say so myself due to the taxi strike I was becoming a bit of afficionado when it comes to the Milanese transport system (by the way a sign for an ATM is not what you think, it is in fact a ticket office). So with that in mind and knowing I had a few hours to kill before the party I checked out the very gorgeous cathedral.
Subtle isn’t she? Obviously I love it. But what I love even more are the covered shopping galleries just out of shot to the left. The architecture of Milan is beautiful. From Centrale station (STUNNING & HUGE!!) to the more modern buildings near Garibaldi station and much more in between.
It’s all quiet expensive here, the teeny hot chocolate I had on the Sunday cost €7 but was totally worth it. A bit more wandering and a delicious plate of pasta later and I headed back to the hotel (this time by tram) to get ready for the party.
Decked out in a vintage dress jacket, dress shirt and my trusty Nudie jeans I helped myself to the as per norm overpriced mini bar for you know some dutch courage. The lovely lady beside is Marta from Maire Claire in Milan (apparently after several glasses of vino I can network!). Ready to go I braved the cold and somehow managed to grab a cab, arriving at the party moments after Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana themselves, and Anna Dello Russo. Slowly making my way upstairs I enjoyed took in the beautiful surroundings of the store, check out the chandelier above.
The party was to celebrate not just the afternoons show (again bravo!) but the beautiful work of Mariano Vivanco who shot the summer campaign. La Bella Estate of course means the beautiful summer and check out the images. If that isnt a beautiful summer I dont know what is.

I just love this whole campaign, it’s the essence of Italian family, and used the wonderful cast of Terra Firma a wonderful film. Having the shots blown up and all around the party was a great touch. Seeing everyone interract with them and discuss them was great. My favourite shot is beyond a doubt this one:

As the evening began to get going I chatted with Jeremy Langmead and the rest of the always delightful Mr Porter crew, before heading downstairs to watch the Swide produced making of film that accompanies the campaign.
Even the best things come to an end, and we a few of us were lucky enough to jump into a taxi to Gold. Here more cocktails were consumed, nibbles nibbled & Celebs spotted (Mr Gandy, Tinie Tempah), before we, (being the stylish and witty Leroy, Camille & Lisa fellow Londoners), once again jumped in a cab. I had such a great time with these three that we will no doubt be raising the roof in London sometime soon.
This time we were off to Plastic. Basically the most random and phenomenal club I have been to in a long time. My love may be slightly enhanced by the fact we were with Dolce & Gabbana and as such ushered straight through the fifty strong crowd baying to get in. It really does help when Mr Gabbana is with you.
A couple more drinks were had, there was some dancing to interesting Italian tunes I had never heard before. It was beyond busy, so much so that Stefano even decided to give a quick hand serving behind the bar.

But all good things come to an end and about 4am it was time to call it a night. The taxi strike now over we all made our way to our beds to get ready for another day on the run around Milan. A truly great night so thank you very much Dolce & Gabbana! Not to mention an invitation to return in June. I’ll be there without a shadow of a doubt. Oh and London Fashion Week, the gauntlet has been laid down…can you top this?

Last weekend I was in Paris for a friends birthday, this weekend I’m off to Milan. Having been invited by Dolce & Gabbana to attend their show I swiftly gave myself an early Christmas and booked flights and hotel for the weekend. This morning my inbox announced the arrival of this little beauty. So that’ll be my Saturday evening in Milan sorted. Having been inspired by the show I’ll now be tripping the light fantastic at “La Bella Estate” into the night.
So if this is how 2012 is going to start, I hope the upward climb from here is as much fun! To say I’m excited is an understatement. Move over little John Lewis boy there’s someone else too excited to count down the days. But worry not readers I will of course be tweeting, instagramming and more for the whole weekend, so you shall not miss out a single thing.
I’m also very impressed that the invite cunningly deleted all the necessary deets when I downloaded it. This is a very private party, so no sharing for gatecrashers. I best remember to write everything down before I arrive!
Now I just need to figure out what I’m going to wear???
It’s been a busy time of late, but that’s no excuse for not regaling the tales of a marvelous party. When the love folks at Mr Porter drop you an email inviting you to a night of festivities its best to clear your calendar for that night. And in fact the following day. Not one’s to launch a new label on the quiet Mr Porter likes to make a bit of a song and dance when something good this way comes. Billy Reid the brilliant Louisiana raised, Alabama based designer now brings some Southern (in the American sense) style to Mr Porter. In 2010 he won both the Best New Designer and the Vogue Fashion Fund Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

So what of the party?
Well it was my first time in the now infamous Box in London. So unfortunately I couldn’t take any pictures. If you need to see the inside google it. Genuine love for any place that can pull of decadent yet dilapidated Victorian music hall and this does. I’d sincerely love to be treated to a night there to see the proper show, which can be more than a little bit raunchy!
The bourbon cocktails flowed freely, very freely in fact! The Apache Relay wowed the crowd, celebs were dotted around the place, whilst myself and my co-revelers lapped up the atmosphere* and gossiped about everything and anything.

Eventually the time came for us to move on, and we were presented with our goodie bags. In them the warmest most comfortable pair of socks my feet have ever managed to try on. As the temperature continues its plummet to freezing I can picture myself living in these beauties all Winter long!

I’m in love and my feet are toasty warm!
Obviously when you are out with fellow bloggers (incl AnastasiaDuck & Robot Monsieur) and Mr Porter the mere problem of a closed bar thwarts no one. Decamping to the W hotel, wine and G&T’s followed. There may have been some form of dancing. There was definitely drunken instagraming. There was laughing. There was a nightmare trip home involving more trains and buses than I thought possible. A great great night!
Which sadly led to the mother of all hangovers! The next day found me very subdued in the office clinging to my desk in the vague hope the world would end and take me with it. I fear this will happen next time Mr Porter invites me out. But I will be prepared and make sure I either have holiday or am working form home that day.
