I’m probably rarely more than four or five feet away from my phone. My wallet and train ticket on the other hand? Well as the husband will attest these can and usually do end up anywhere in our house. This often results in much swearing and throwing back of duvets, sweeping aside of paperwork and on more than one occasion frustrated opening of the fridge in a desperate attempt to find said wallet when we’re leaving the house.  I could of course be sensible and leave it in the same place all the time but where’s the fun in that? Also I swear I do but somehow it gets moved by person or persons unknown.

So this little beauty would solve all those issues, because to be honest if my phone isnt within reach I do get minor palpitations. I mean what if something amazing happens to either myself or the world and I can’t tweet about it! It just doesn’t bare thinking about.

In all seriousness this looks like a great piece of kit and am sure similar versions are available elsewhere. Anything that cuts down on the amount of crap in your pockets must be a good thing.

Gentlemen, we do not have to reapply make up (well most of us and if you do go for it!) nor do we have the seemingly endless supply of curios that dwell in a ladies handbag. When we go out we need the following phone, bank cards, cash, keys and travel cards. We do not need all our store cards, every credit card, receipts dating back to the land before time and more. Cut down on the bulk!

Thanks to Cool Hunting for this.

Father’s Day // Mr Porter // Menswear

In just over a week it’ll be Father’s Day, and as per norm I will probably be a totally rubbish son. It’s a mutually reciprocal thing between myself and Dad. We love each other dearly but days like this have a tendency to zoom past us. If it wasn’t for the fact his birthday was part of our house alarm code growing up I doubt I’d remember it at all. But he is just as forgetful. Or as I prefer to say busy!

Genuinely Dad is one of the greatest, he’s never let anything get in the way of my ambitions or dreams. I owe him a massive debt of thanks for this, that and my ever so slightly dry sense of humour. Our fortnightly chats may be little more than a perfunctory ‘Hi how are you?’ run through the basics of how everyone is, and sign of with a manly ‘I love you’, but it doesn’t mean we don’t think about each other daily. Who knows, now I’ve had a chance to dwell on his greatness he may even get a card this year.

But were I better, and were my pockets a smidgen deeper I’d be off to Mr. Porter and dispatching some loveliness his way. Dad’s are notoriously difficult to buy for, but the good folks there have cleared had a look round the office and broken Dad’s into five manageable chunks. Is your Dad sporty, traditional, hipster, a bit Bear Grylls, or more of a Gordon Gekko?

My Dad? Traditionalist!

Without a shadow of a doubt. Glancing through the selections was like opening his wardrobe. Well if I took him out shopping anyway on a limitless budget anyway.  So what would Dad be getting? It’s all about the accessories and I don’t mean socks! He has enough and he may be a traditionalist but come on he deserves better. So a Bottega Wallet, Brooks Brothers Regimental Tie, and the Mulberry Belt would be winging they’re way to him in very lovely Mr. Porter wrapping.

Go on spoil your Dad. With some notable exceptions he’s worth it.

So I’ve been harping on a bit of late on belts. Why you may ask? Well for a start they’re generally at the more accessible end of the high fashion market. More than that though they can totally change a look, lifting it from the bored and stayed to the truly interesting.
This belt looks so good. The wallet if I’m honest is bit too crafty for my taste but lets not hold that against it.
Being high quality leather this belt will age in a unique way depending on each wearer and their life. The build up of creases and patina on the leather will only add to it’s character.
If you see one of these out and about please let me know where…and I’ll do the same

A look at the new belt. A detail post + fit pick will be up on Young Man/Old Man tomorrow or Thursday. Also check the progress of my wallet.
